So as i sit here looking at the Mound of paperwork.  I am dreading it.

We send in our Home study application this week.
Now i do not have to have all of this for the application. But by then end of the Home Study process I will need all of this, and more.  Lets see what does the check list ask for.

First for the Application

Release form for DFCS

Release for Criminal History

Release of Child Protective Services
Release of Sex offender Registry Info

Basic Info about you.
This is about a 30-40 page application we have to fill out.

Step 2, Next i must get.  After the agency agrees to work with us.

FBI Fingerprint Cards

CPR & First Aid Certified

Georgia Criminal Background Check

Medical Report (Yes i have to have a Physical)

Financial Statement

Copy of my past 2 years Taxes.

And Finally,

4 Reference Letters

Birth Certificate

Marriage License

Copy of Drivers License and insurance card

Proof of medical Health Insurance,

911 call history and law enforcement record of where i have lived in the past 5 years

inspection of my septic tank

note from my employer

rabies shot verification of all pet

You know the standard.  nothing real intense.

Oh wait Thought i was done did yah.  lets add more.  Like Surveys about you, where you have lived, worked, and went to school for the past 10 years, ect.......

Now give me a moment as i slam my head in to my keyboard.  Really, Really, all this  ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

NOTE TO SELF:  According to the Net, If a Couple is serious about adopting they will complete the Home Study.  Most Couples that have Doubts usually dont get it done and their adoption journey is finished.

Well, we (more like I) stopped at the "omg, they want to know ALL that about us". I took offense to it. I am not a bad person because I do not go to church, I do have a medical condition and NO it is not going to affect a child so why?! Why so deep?!
Kudos to you for continuing forward.

Yes, my husband agrees with you. He thinks that if we have to go through this all then even a Birth parent that decided to parent should have to have it also.
